Every year as the Holidays get closer, it becomes time to look at your budget, and I often think about how I can get creative with my cheap Christmas decorations.

Getting creative is using what you have to make easy beautiful Holiday decorations and shopping with only the amount of money you’ve set aside.

Christmas colors are essential when it comes to decorating.

As long as you bring out the classic red, green, and white, your home will indeed exude Christmas.

Christmas is enjoyed by everyone, a Holiday that allows friends and family to come together and enjoy the season.

Candles and fireplaces often represent the warmth of Christmas, as well as comforting meals, so it’s essential to include these themes.

Your home will become the most comfortable Christmas dream by taking these Christmas color themes and well-known concepts and turning them into Christmas decoration ideas. All while on a budget.

Nothing Says Budget Like Thrifting

Even though thrifting might not be your cup of tea, I highly recommend giving it a shot. It can be much more cost-friendly than the dollar store, and every once in a while, you’ll find some high-quality items.

Thrifting also means you’re more environmentally friendly by reusing things others would have thrown out.

You can often find specific decorations at the thrift store during the Holiday season, such as unique Christmas ornaments and candles. You may also notice some wreaths or fake vines that you can add to your decoration arsenal.

Keep in mind the Christmas color combinations and themes. Even if you do not find specific Christmas decorations, it is always worth it to pick up some red or green glassware, maybe some white photo frames, or some gold ornamental candlesticks.

A little Paint Can Go a Long Way

Whether it be painting a picture, a decoration, or even a wall, painting is an easy way to bring out the Christmas spirit. So pick up some paint at your local hardware or budget store in your favorite Christmas color and find your creative outlet.

Better yet, let the whole family enjoy some painting fun! Grab some picture frames and paint some candy cane stripes, or make some beautiful snowman portraits. You can even paint some handmade cards for a personal touch.

Get your hands on some old plant pots, paint them white to create snowmen, or paint some reindeer with cute button-red noses.

Paint strips of paper, and string them together for some handmade wreaths. These wreaths can be strung in bedrooms or across door frames to bring some more Christmas spirit.

Paper is Key To Being Creative

Paper is one of the most versatile tools to have in your decorating arsenal. Cost friendly, be sure to stock up on white, green, and red paper. Don’t hesitate on different textures. Cardstock and tissue paper are also excellent for getting creative.

Christmas cards are a staple, and you can display them on the mantelpiece and countertop. Design your own and place them for the world to see, or show the ones you’ve received in the mail from friends and family.

Cutting out snowflakes and placing them in clusters around the home give an ethereal Christmas feeling. Create characters out of paper like deer or elves and put them in fake snow or even in the window.

Bring out the tissue paper and create bundles of red and green. These resemble beautiful poinsettias and can be placed around the home in a vase, a perfect cheap Christmas decoration idea.

Cloth Brings Color & Christmas Spirit

Tablecloths and runners can change the look of an entire room. Because they are on the centerpiece, like the dining table or coffee table, they draw a lot of attention and can influence the color and vibrance within the room.

Choose your favorite fabric and drape over the table, placing any loose items on top for a clean look.

No need for heavy cloth either. With some simple crochet tablecloths or doilies in red, white, or green, a room can have the perfect feeling of Christmas.

You don’t need to reserve the cloth for a table. Instead, draping a table runner over the back of the couch or armchair can add that Christmas comfort and brighten up the entire room.

Feel The Christmas Coziness With Lights

As the days get shorter and darkness creeps in, the onset of Christmas lights keeps the neighborhood cheery and light.

Let’s not forget, you don’t have to reserve Christmas lights for outdoor use or the Christmas tree. Stringing some warm white Christmas lighting through the living room or kitchen not only makes things easier to see but makes the family feel nice and snug.

Lights come in different colors, so be sure to focus on Christmas lights color schemes rather than something multicolor. Multicolored lights are beautiful outdoors but can appear too busy in the home.

If you want a bit more Christmas magic, you can cut out some paper snowflakes and add them to the lights to create a fantasy snowfall that the whole family can enjoy as you sit by the fireplace and relax for the night.

Candles For That Fireplace Warmth

Even if you don’t have a fireplace in your home, no doubt having an open fire brings the Christmas spirit. Luckily, you don’t need a wood stove to emulate!

Candles are found cheap at second-hand stores and local retailers. You can even find decently priced candles at large stores like Walmart or Target, where they will sometimes be on sale with the clearance Christmas decorations.

Candles are easy to find in the color white, and often during the Christmas season, you can find red or green candles that are listed more within your budget.

Using gold or bronze candle holders, place some candles in the kitchen and living area. Also, put some around the tree (although not too close). In the evening, light the candles and turn on the Christmas lights for a comforting glow.

Ornaments Aren’t Just For The Tree

Christmas ornaments are easily one of the most versatile decorations. There is no need to leave them only on the tree. Instead, it is easy to get creative and place them around the house.

You can find cheap Christmas ornaments in bulk on sale at local retailers during the offseason or purchase large quantities for a low price at second-hand stores.

Go ahead and hang some ornaments from the mantelpiece. Cheap glass Christmas ornaments are perfect in the living space since they are classy and comforting and add a pop of color.

Hanging Christmas ornaments from the chandelier can immediately change the whole aspect of the room. When turning on the light, the shine will bounce off the glass of the decorations creating radiant light that gives a comforting glow throughout the home.

The staircase can often be bland and difficult to decorate. By hanging some ornaments on the railing, not only will your family comment on your creativity, but you will feel the Christmas festivities within the whole house.

Flowers & Brush For Some Homey Greenery

It’s easy to fall into the trap that fresh flowers are expensive. Luckily that isn’t always the case. Flowers on sale, dried flowers, and fake flowers are all ways you can get your money’s worth while on a budget.

Whether it’s the grocery store or the local boutique, there are always fresh flowers on sale. Place them on your dining table or in the kitchen as a centerpiece, and enjoy those Christmas colors found during the Holiday season.

Once the flowers begin to droop, it’s time for them to be pressed or dried. Why throw out a perfect bouquet when you can preserve it for years to come?

Dried flowers carry just as much color and vibrancy as when they were alive and brighten the room in a vase or on display in a frame.

You can find fake flowers and greenery at craft stores. Purchase before or after the Holidays when they are on sale and keep them for years.

A budget-buy with many uses allows you to have a colorful arrangement that you can use in future Holiday decorations.

Wreaths Are a Christmas Staple

You can see a Christmas wreath on every door during the Holidays. A wreath isn’t just an outdoor piece, but you can bring it indoors as well.

Wreaths are a one-time purchase, and that can make them one of the best budget buys. In addition, you can change your wreath for each season. Add or remove flowers or accessories like pine cones and holly to get a fresh new look.

You can hang the wreath indoors over the mantlepiece or on the wall above your couch. Even over a door frame is a new place that will get lots of viewers admiring the beauty of such a vibrant decoration.

The versatility of wreaths makes them a cheap Christmas decoration and a staple that you must have in your Christmas decorating collection.
